With athletic handling and a bold look, the Cadillac STS defies the stereotype of a huge American sedan with boat-like handling. But despite these attributes the STS still trails the competition in interior quality. “Overall, the 2011 Cadillac STS remains a decent luxury sedan,” writes Edmunds. “But with so many superior entries in this segment, we’d still advise you to check out the competition before making a decision.”
While the interior of the 2011 Cadillac STS sees the use of some hard plastics not present in many luxury large cars, the STS fails to make up for it with a significantly lower price tag. Base models start at about $47,000, and aren’t available with comfort and convenience features that many buyers in this segment have come to expect, like heated seats, navigation or Bluetooth connectivity. Opting for the upper Luxury or Premium trim fixes this issue, but also adds more than $3,000 to the bottom line. A cramped back seat and a smaller-than-average trunk also cause the STS to lose points to more accommodating cars in the class.
Under the hood a 3.6-liter V6 delivers power through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The optional 4.6-liter Northstar V8 has been discontinued for 2011, but reviewers say it’s not much of a loss. The V8 was an expensive option, and only provided an additional 18 horsepower over the standard V6 mill. Handling and braking are where the STS continues to shine. It’s nimble in the corners, and reviewers are generally pleased to be sitting in the driver’s seat. Cadillac wind deflectors . The Cadillac STS rear-wheel-drive luxury sport sedan officially debuted for the 2005 model year and was offered in 255-hp V6 and 320-hp V8 versions. The latter could also be had with all-wheel drive (AWD). The following year, AWD became available on the V6 while for 2007 a six-speed automatic transmission was fitted to the V8 version. A midcycle refresh took place for ’08, bringing revised styling (including ubiquitous chrome fender vents), a more luxuriously trimmed interior and the current more powerful V6 matched to the six-speed automatic. Those who fancy V8 power should know that 2010 was the last year it was available for the Cadillac STS.

Those interested in a used model previous to the debut of the STS model will want to check out the front-wheel-drive, fifth-generation Seville produced from 1998-2003. The performance-oriented version of that car was known as the STS and featured a more powerful V8 engine and more luxury features. The 1992-’97 Seville also featured a similar STS edition.

2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum Review. There is nothing more fitting for a status symbol in the automotive world than a Cadillac Escalade. From Hollywood stars and rappers to the Football players and the business executives, almost everyone is either driving one or has a significant other that drives one. While we were visiting the beautiful Northern California, General Motors sent a 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum to give us company. Read the rest of the review to find out if that short term stay was worth remembering or not.
When we first walked up to the Escalade, we were amazed to see how big this thing really is. At 222-inches long, the Escalade is easily one of the longest in the market. Over the years there is one thing we have learnt about the Escalade is that the styling will never disappoint you. The 2011 Escalade is easily the best looking SUV in the market compared to the Land Cruiser, Range Rover and the QX.
Our tester came with a sticker price of $87,345 plus a $950 destination charge. Another reason to opt for the Platinum package is that you get every option as standard equipment thus removing the need to worry about which option box to check.
The Escalade’s exterior is where it is at with massive yet stylish LED headlight lamps, unique upper and lower front grilles and 22-inch Chrome wheels that are well suited to this bling-mobile. After a quick walk around we were left admiring the exterior of this SUV because even though it shares the platform with the Suburban and Yukon XL, Cadillac designers have done a great job keeping this Escalade a Cadillac. Did we mention that we were sold? Yes if we had to decide based on just the exterior, Escalade would be the only one we would purchase. But there is more to a SUV than exterior styling so let’s move to the inside and see what does this huge Caddy offer? Getting into the Escalade is a breeze thanks to the power retractable running boards that snap out un-noticed. Once inside, Tehama Aniline leather 14-way power seats great you and you really feel pampered. Almost everything inside the Caddy is wrapped in leather which is expected considering the hefty price tag of this Platinum Edition. The dash is well treated with wood trim and aluminum accents with the trademark clock in the middle. We are not a big fan of the instrument cluster or the steering wheel as they belong to a Silverado rather than this Escalade. Steering Wheel with no telescoping option was a big fail and we think Cadillac could have done better but we are sure that the 2014 model will correct that. The Escalade ESV has ample storage space and even with the third row seats up you have about 45.8 cubic-feet of cargo space which beats the competition with some distance.
The Escalade is loaded with electronics and convenience features with a huge LCD in the dash for the Navigation and everything else. It also has 7” LCDs in the headrests and two 8” Overhead LCDs for the 2nd and 3rd row passengers. This mobile-theater is also equipped with BOSE 5.1 Surround sound system with Bluetooth functionality. We found the controls of the system to be very user friendly and OnStar is always a life saver. And talk about being pampered? You have got heated and cooled front seats AND cup holders along with a tri-zone climate control system.
Enough about the comfort and convenience, what about the driving experience? The Escalade is a beast with a Vortec 6.2L 403HP V8 under the hood with flex-fuel capability. EPA rates this SUV at 18MPG highway and 13MPG city which is exactly what we saw considering the steep roads of San Francisco. With magnetic ride control you don’t notice any potholes and the Escalade really moves when you floor the pedal.
So what did we think about this Caddy during our one week stay in Northern California? We think Cadillac has done a remarkable job building this big SUV and it definitely competes well with the rest of the SUV offerings. Based on just the exterior there is nothing in the market that even comes close. There is enough room inside to make your road trips perfect but we are not a big fan of the steering wheel and the instrument cluster. We really hope that Cadillac will take care of these minor things and the 2014 Escalade will return with a bang. So the bottom line is that if you are purchasing a SUV based on just the looks then Escalade gets the vote but if you are looking for more interior features then you should also check out the Infiniti QX56 but it will be a close call.

Provided for the sedan, the Cadillac was reversed fortunes in the early 1990s, the original STS generally a successful sports-oriented successor Cadillac Seville lush.
Redesigned for model year 2005 brought a new rear-wheel-drive STS the platform and up to 2009 model year, a choice of V6 or V8 engines.
Originally, the STS marked with a 3.6-liter V6 and a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 market, while a high-performance 4.4-liter Northstar V8 compressor engine made its debut in 2006, the STS-aggressive V. The flagship was short-lived, however, as it was canceled in 2009. The atmospheric Northstar V8 was in 2010 and only a 302-hp, 272 lb-ft down. This advanced engine is also in the smaller CTS, the Chevrolet Camaro and General Motors Lambda platform crossovers like the Chevrolet Traverse.

Platinum Limited Edition Package adds styling touches, real wood trim, Alcantara headliner synthetic suede and premium leather seats. Slow sales mean that the STS should not remain in the GM lineup after the 2011 model year, Cadillac will replace, when both she and the DTS with a larger front-or all-wheel-drive flagship.

The 2011 Cadillac STS lineup is revised. This is the larger of Cadillac’s two premium-midsize cars. The Base trim level is joined for 2011 by the mid-level Luxury Collection and top-end Premium Collection. The sole engine for all is a 302-horsepower 3.6-liter V6; it teams with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The V8 engine has been discontinued. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional on the Base and Luxury Collection. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. A lane-departure and blind-spot alert system are optional on the Premium Collection. Leather upholstery is standard. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard on all but the Base. A navigation system is optional on the Luxury Collection and standard on the Premium Collection. The Platinum Edition Package includes specific interior and exterior trim and is available on the Premium Collection.

As all performance parts automotive filters have the end of their service life. Those are usually changed after a certain time or mileage but the periods may vary depending on the conditions and surrounding the car was used at. For example air filter is usually changed after 15000 miles or once a year if the vehicle was not in the run for long. But at highly contaminated areas the filter should be changed more frequently. The Cadillac STS premiered for the 2005 model year as a sporty luxury sedan. Offered as both rear and all-wheel drive (AWD), the STS was designated by GM to succeed the Seville in the Cadillac lineup. At launch, the Cadillac STS was equipped with a base 3.6L V6 engine good for up to 255 horsepower. However, a bolder 4.4L V8 which pumped out 320 horsepower could also be had (and included AWD). Engines were mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. As for the model’s dimensions, the Cadillac STS measured in with a wheelbase of 116.4 inches, a width of 72.6 inches, a height of 57.6 inches, and an overall length of 196.3 inches (2008- 196.7 inches).
For 2007, the V8 engine configuration received a new six-speed automatic transmission while AWD became offered with the V6. Since there were not a plethora of trim levels, the base Cadillac STS V6 was well-equipped with 17″ wheels, eight-way power front-seats, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, a premium eight-speaker Bose sound system, remote keyless ignition, and OnStar navigation. V8 variants added seating-memory presets, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, wood trim, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Additional features such as adaptive cruise control, 18″ wheels, and xenon HID headlights could be obtained either as separate options or as part of one of several packages.

2008 welcomed in a redesign that saw the exterior of the STS receive a new front-end “egg crate” grille as well as a bevy of other trim and styling changes, including an update to the interior. Under the hood, the base 3.6L V6 was boosted up to 302 horsepower and 272 pounds-per-foot of torque. The stronger (and optional) 3.6L V8 also saw an increase, rising to 320 horsepower along with 315 pounds-per-foot of torque. Both configurations were directed through a six-speed automatic transmission with rear or all-wheel drive. Safety features were updated for 2008, as well. The STS showed off antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side-curtain airbags, a lane-departure warning system, a blind-zone alert system, and active steering (which was offered for V8 versions). 2009 did not bring in too many changes to the
